The Kannada film industry resembles a divided house on the #MeToo movement.

Though some actors and technicians are supporting multi-lingual actor Sruthi Hariharan, who has called out actor- director Arjun Sarja, a section of the Kannada film industryis rallying for Mr. Arjun. The Karnataka Film Artistes’ Association (KFAA) has also backed him.

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) intervened on Monday, after veteran actor Rajesh, father-in-law of Mr. Arjun, complained against Ms. Sruthi. Mr. Rajesh said he was seeking justice for defamation against his son.

S.A. Chinne Gowda, KFCC president, told The Hindu that following Mr. Rajesh’s complaint, the KFCC handed over the matter to the Central Reconciliation Committee (CRC).“The CRC will meet on Thursday to sort out the issue,” he said.

Under fire

Meanwhile, Film Industry for Rights and Equality (FIRE), which has formed an Internal Complaints Committee, is under attack by members of the KFCC for its support to Ms. Sruthi.
