She's the political advisor who earned herself a reputation as one of the 'villains' on Nick Cummins' season of The Bachelor.

And in a recent interview with Honi Soit, Alisha Aitken-Radburn revealed that some Canberra figures thought she was throwing away her career by appearing on the dating show.

The 26-year-old also admitted she struggled to find a job in politics after filming the series, describing that period of her life as a 'bumpy road'.

'It's been a bumpy road': Labor activist Alisha Aitken-Radburn, 26, has revealed she was warned she was throwing away a career in politics by appearing on The Bachelor

'[It was difficult to] put aside everybody's opinions,' she said, reflecting on how some people warned her that starring on The Bachelor would jeopardise her career.

However, Alisha said that she has landed on her feet after a 'bumpy' few months.

She is now working as Director of Events and Fundraising for NSW Labor.

Before getting the job at NSW Labor, Alisha 'sat around' and tried to pass the time by exercising. For a time, she admits, was worried about her career prospects.

Alisha, who is a University of Sydney graduate, worked as an 'advancer' in Opposition Leader Bill Shorten's office prior to her debut on The Bachelor.

She was portrayed on the dating show as a 'villain', and part of a trio of 'mean girls' including fashion designer Cat Henesey and actress Romy Poulier.

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph in August, Alisha said that Australian politics and The Bachelor 'have more in common than people think.'

She added: 'Working in the halls of Parliament House was good preparation for some of the drama that goes on in the mansion.'
