PUNE: A 24-year-old man was stabbed on Tilak Road, near a prominent hotel, on Sunday afternoon, over a demand for sexual favours. The Khadak police have detained two minor boys and a man over the knifing incident.
The stabbing took place around 2.30pm on the footpath. When the victim screamed for help, local residents and passersby grabbed the trio. They were handed over to the Khadak police.

Senior inspector Rajendra Mokashi of Khadak police station told TOI, “We will register an offence of attempt to murder against the man and the two minor boys,” he said.

The injured is a homeless man and stays on the roads in Mandai, Market Yard and Yerawada.

Mokashi said, “The minors and their adult accomplice stay in Laxminagar slums in Yerawada and are friends. They know the homeless man,” he said.

He called the trio to a deserted building on Tilak Road and told the man and one of the minors to wait on the ground floor and took the other minor boy to the second floor with him.

“He then demanded that the boy perform some sexual acts with him. When they boy refused, the man pulled out a knife and threatened him. When the boy screamed, his friends rushed to the second floor,” he said.

By this time, the homeless man had slashed the boy. The three friends then overpowered him but he escaped down the stairs. The trio grabbed him on the footpath and stabbed him several times on his stomach and chest, Mokashi said.

About a month ago, a man had stabbed his male live-in partner after he refused to have a physical relationship with him at an apartment on Shivaji Road.
