LUCKNOW: Brace up for ‘chill’ in coming nights as temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3 degree Celsius in the coming week. Moreover, day temperatures are also likely to fall and in all likelihood winter is expected to set in by Diwali.
According to met department, a significant fall in night temperatures along with dry weather conditions would prevail for the next few days.
The reduction in the El Nino effect, active western disturbances and less solar radiation due to days turning shorter are the three main factors which will be responsible for making the nights cooler in the coming days, said weatherman.
The maximum and minimum temperatures on Sunday were 34.4 and 19.1 degree Celsius, respectively, both a degree above normal.
However, the weather was pleasant. On Monday, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 33 and 18 degree Celsius, respectively.
Met officials said that day temperatures will continue to hover above 30 degree Celsius but will drop by a degree or two as the week progresses.
The fall in night temperatures will be comparatively more, adding ‘chill’ in the air. “Morning and nights are cooler as compared to daytime and the temperature will further reduce due to conditions like active western disturbance, weakening of El Nino effect and shorter days which dips the temperatures,” said director of Lucknow University climate monitoring station Prof Dhruv Sen Singh.
