A person has been taken to hospital after a blaze ripped through a Traveller camp.

Firefighters were called to the Riverside Caravan Park in Queensferry just before 3am today following reports that a number of caravans had caught fire.

One person was taken to hospital as a result of the blaze.

A spokesman for Flintshire Council, which owns the site, said the person was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation, but that their condition is not life-threatening.

They added that the blaze was accidental.

The site, which provides accommodation for around 20 families, is best known as the home of Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star and Celebrity Big Brother winner Paddy Doherty.

Three fire crews were called out to the scene at 2.52am.
