Teen with pole shocked during storm clean-up north of Brisbane
A teenage boy who hit power lines with a pole and suffered an electric shock during the storm clean-up in the Moreton Bay region has been rushed to hospital.
The Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics were called to Station Street in Petrie about 9.40pm, with a critical care paramedic also responding to the triple zero call.
The boy, aged in his early teens according to QAS, was taken to Queensland Children's Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Meanwhile, two adults and a child were winched off Mt Glorious, about 40 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, after being cut off by floodwater.
The state government's Rescue 500 Helicopter was called to rescue the trio on Sunday afternoon and paramedics cleared them of any injuries.
Flash flooding was also seen in Toowoomba on Sunday as severe storms lashed the south-east, with a 106km/h wind gust and 10,000 lightning strikes leaving thousands without power.
The highest rainfall recorded was 83mm at Mt Tamborine, inland from the Gold Coast, and golf ball-sized hailstones fell in Aspley, in Brisbane's north, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
An Energex spokeswoman said 15,000 properties lost power at the height of the storms, with Brisbane's northside, Brendale and Caboolture in Moreton Bay and the Lockyer Valley the worst hit.
