Protests continue to rage over the entry of women of all ages into the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple with the city on Sunday witnessing a couple of marches for and against the Supreme Court verdict
In the morning, activists of the Hindu Aikya Vedi took out a ‘Namajapa march’ to the Ernakulam North police station in protest against the police action at Sabarimala on the activists of the Sabarimala Action Committee. Inaugurating the march, E.S. Biju, Vedi State committee member, said the stance taken by the State government as well as its police force on the Sabarimala issue was a challenge to the customs and traditions of the Hindu religion. During the day, the city also witnessed a protest march by the Women Forward movement seeking the government to ensure protection to women entering Sabarimala.
Social activists Tasni Banu and Maya Krishnan led the march.
