Foretellix Showcases Its Adaptive Coverage Driven Verification Flow at the Autonomous Vehicle Test Symposium
Shifting the Industry's Focus from 'Quantity of Miles' to 'Quality of Coverage' to Increase Confidence in AV Safety

NOVI, Michigan, Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Foretellix, a high profile Israeli based start-up automating the verification of autonomous vehicles, today announced it will be showcasing its Adaptive Coverage Driven Verification flow at the Autonomous Vehicle Test Symposium in Detroit, Michigan. This new verification approach enables an industry shift in focus from 'quantity of miles' to 'quality of coverage', dramatically increasing confidence in AV safety.
Foretellix will be demonstrating 1) the creation of coverage driven verification plans, 2) new ways to describe, extend, mix and monitor the coverage of scenarios using an abstract, human readable Scenario Description Language (SDL), 3) the generation of concrete scenarios to fill coverage holes, and 4) use of coverage metrics and analyses to guide the verification process towards a goal of 99% coverage.
In addition, the new mandate for 'adaptive coverage' will be discussed and demonstrated. Adaptive coverage is driven by the need to pursue a goal of 99% coverage of seemingly endless combinations of roadway situations, objects, conditions, rules and/or operational faults. This requires rapid adaptations of the verification environment and associated coverage model, mapping thousands of abstract scenarios automatically to hundreds of millions of concrete scenarios, and execution of these scenarios across simulation, X-in-the-Loop platforms, and real world test driving.
