HYDERABAD: “The Congress party never claimed that ‘democracy was in danger’ when Professor Varavara Rao was arrested in their tenure. The party is turning disruptive to the nation by taking opportunistic stances on issues of national interest,” alleged BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao, speaking at an interactive session on ‘Make in India v/s Break in India’ in the city on Sunday.

“Whether it is Pakistan’s State-sponsored terrorism or our strained foreign relations with Bangladesh, across the years, the BJP has taken a unified stand on certain issues,” the BJP leader argued.

Further criticising the campaign strategy that Congress adopted during the recently concluded Gujarat polls, Muralidhar said, “In order to mobilise people, they are dividing Hindus in the name of caste and pitting them against each other.”

Muralidhar also defended the phrase ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’, widely used by BJP in the recent times, claiming that it has “contextual articulation and is not based on any noun or adjective”.

“Congress had attempted to create an ‘Opposition-mukt Bharat’ when they were in power. We will make the people understand that Congress merely stands for corruption, dynastic rule, and caste-based politics,” Rao stated.

Speaking on the allegations of a secret tie-up with the TRS mounting on the party, Muralidhar claimed that they were rumours being spread by the Opposition.
