PATNA: Mokama Kendriya Vidyalaya principal Sachchidanand Tiwari was arrested for alleged domestic and physical violence against his wife Usha Singh Tiwari on Saturday morning. He was kept at Mokama police station for several hours before police granted him bail at night. The school is located under the Mokama police station area in Patna district.
Barh ASP Lipi Singh on Sunday said the woman is a housewife and there were several injury marks on her body.
“One of the limbs of the woman was swollen. Perhaps there was a fracture. Police are yet to receive her medical reports to know what kind of injuries were inflicted on her by the principal,” she said.
Singh said the woman had made an SOS call to DG control room at the state police headquarters on Friday night after which police came to know about the incident.
She said an FIR under Section 498A (husband or his relative subjecting his wife to cruelty) of IPC was lodged with the Mokama police station on the woman’s written complaint after which the principal was arrested and brought to the police station for interrogation.
“The principal was granted bail from police station after he submitted a personal bond under Section 41 of the CrPC,” she said, adding the case was of domestic and physical violence arising out of marital dispute. Singh said relation between the couple had been tense for the last several years.
