LUCKNOW: Vikas Soni, whose father was allegedly 'kidnapped' by Nepal police in September, on Saturday approached the Indian embassy in the neighbouring country to look into the case.
The director general of consular services of Union ministry of external affairs has directed the Nepal police to investigate the case . Earlier, Vikas had also written to the Prime Minister's Office, requesting it to help him find his father. In his letter he wrote, "On September 28, my father, Kishore Lal Soni, was on his way home on a two-wheeler and was carrying Rs 2 lakh cash and 800 gram gold, when he was kidnapped by two men in a white car around 7pm in Madiaon. Later, we went to Madiaon police station and lodged a missing persons complaint. On the same day, we got a call from an international number. The caller claimed to be a Nepal Police personnel and said that my father was in their custody. When I tried to ask some questions, he ended the call. Later, Circle officer (Aliganj) called and informed that us my father had been taken into custody by the Nepal Police from Nepalganj in connection with a 14-year-old murder case."
He also alleged that the allegations made by the Nepal police of his father's involvement in a murder case were baseless.
