A total of 14 people were travelling in the van which was heading towards Aligarh from Noida.
While one of the passengers, Krishna, died on the spot, the injured were taken to Dadri community health centre (CHC).
SHO of Dadri police station Ramsen Singh told TOI that the passengers belonged to an Aligarh-based family who were in Noida for work at the Ramlila celebrations held at Bhangel. “They were working on stalls at the Ramlila ground and were returning to Aligarh with their family and equipment. There were 14 passengers, including three women and a two-year-old girl,” said the SHO.
Out of the total injured persons, seven were treated at the Navin Hospital in Dadri. An official of the hospital said that one of the passengers, Dinesh (50), was serious and was hence referred to Bhagwan Mahavir hospital in Delhi. “The others have suffered injuries in different parts of their bodies. They were later discharged from the hospital,” he said.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pick-up van remains absconding and the roadways bus, that overtook the vehicle, could not be identified.
