Centurions fire ahead of ACT Gridiron finals

The Centurions have secured second place with a lightning affected 32-6 win over the Barbarians on the eve of the ACT Gridiron finals.

Quarterback Beau Kennett led from the front with a great performance to secure his team second place on the ladder ahead of a showdown with the Central Spears in the final round of the regular season.

The game was interrupted due to lightning and severe weather with the Centurions in front 12-6 at Greenway Oval on Saturday.

The rain delay failed to dampen their spirits as they went on to record a resounding win, leaving the Barbarians winless in 2018 with a game to play against the competition heavyweights University of Canberra.

The Centurions' female side - the ACT Diamonds - continues their fairytale story in the NSW Gridiron league.

They have now won four straight games and have moved to the top of the table with a hard-fought 20-0 victory over an injury riddled Northern Sydney Phoenix.

The result means the women’s side is guaranteed a finals berth and will look to take the competition in the coming weeks.
