’Comedy Aani Barach Kahi’ sets tone for VNIT’s ‘Aarohi’

Nagpur: Cultural nite ‘Comedy Aani Barach Kahi’ set the tone for ‘Aarohi’, the annual festival of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), with renowned artistes presenting dazzling display at its auditorium on Sunday.
The 15th curtain-raiser saw people from different age groups having a gala time as well-known actors Samir Choughule, Prasad Khandekar, Sandeep Gaikwad and Bhakti Ratnaparkhi, featuring in famous television shows ‘Fu Bai Fu’ and ‘Comedy Chi Bullet Train’ made them laugh their lungs out. They presented amusing acts, mimicry and skits based on travelling, mobile offers and game shows, besides others.

Arohi Mhatre regaled the audience with evergreen songs like ‘Gorya gorya gali’, ‘Aatach ka bawarla’, ‘Iktara’ and ‘Saiyaan’.

The proceeds of the curtain-raiser will go to Shanti Bhavan, an old-age home, to return the debt of the society. The Times of India is print partner of the event.

The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of a traditional lamp by Deepak Khirwadkar, director of South Central Zone Cultural Centre, professors in-charge Arghya Mitra and DH Lataye and deans of students welfare B Umre and planning and development GP Singh respectively.

Addressing the gathering, VNIT director Pramod Padole traced the history of ‘Aarohi’ and lauded students for carrying forward the legacy of organizing such a programme.

The event was covered by Cinematrix Productions.

‘Aarohi’ president Daksh Parekh said the three-day event, organized by students, will begin on October 26 and is expected to be attended by more than 15,000 people. The elimination rounds for various contests like personality development, singing, quiz, debate and band began a week in advance. The other events to be held include EDM nite, stand-up comedy show by Kanan Gill, live-in-concert by Nalayak and Foodie-staan.
