Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district general secretary G. Gopakumar has filed a complaint against Sub Judge and Kottayam Legal Service Authority (LSA) Secretary S. Sudeep alleging that he hurt religious sentiments by denigrating the deity of Sabarimala through a social media post.
The complaint was filed in Kollam West police station on Saturday. According to the complaint, Mr. Sudeep has been posting very offensive comments about Lord Ayyappa, the presiding deity of the Sabarimala temple, in facebook. ‘‘If it’s so difficult for him to stay celibate what will be the chances our celibacy and chastity #youtoo Ayyapetta (sic),’’ he posted on Facebook.
Mr. Gopakumar said they view his post as an attempt to insult Lord Ayyappa and his devotees.
‘‘Since he has been continuously posting statements and comments hurting Hindu religious sentiments, we have also complained to the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court and State Home Secretary against him,’’ he said.
According to police officials, the complaint has been forwarded to the Registrar of the High Court of Kerala since it involves a Sub Judge.
