10 held for being drunk during immersions

VADODARA: Ten revellers were nabbed in an inebriated condition by Navapura police during immersion of Durga Puja idol near Siddhnath pond on Friday night.



Police said that the 10 persons had joined the immersion procession after consuming alcohol at their homes. When the procession was passing through Patthargate area, they started shouting and made bawdy comments. Police sources said that at one moment the locals and the group even got into arguments which could have snowballed into clashes.


But the police were informed about the behaviour of accused and soon a PCR van reached at the spot. Cops intervened and took all 10 accused. A police official said that it was evident that 10 accused had consumed alcohol and were behaving nastily due to influence of alcohol. Later cases of prohibition were registered against each one of them.


The accused have been identified as Bikas Besh, Sujit Ghosh, Shakti Chaudhary, Tapaskumar Garai, Sanjit Sasmal, Deepak Bera, Sumga Jana, Shishisudul Napalusudul, Jagannath Jamra and Prabir Sona. All 10 accused are residents of Baranpura.tnn
