They have been close friends for seven years, and now Jess Mulroney is supporting Meghan as she prepares to welcome her first child.

The stylist is believed to be helping the Duchess of Sussex curate her maternity wardrobe after flying from Toronto to Sydney - albeit in an 'unofficial capacity' - to join her on her first major overseas tour as an expectant mother.

Meghan, 37, is believed to be up to 16 weeks pregnant and with her baby bump beginning to show, there are few better placed than mother-of-three Mulroney to advise her on dressing her growing tummy.

A fan of bright colours, tight trousers and towering heels, Mulroney's pregnancy style was true to form - and offers some fascinating clues into how how Meghan might dress her own bump in the coming months.

The Canadian fashion guru, 38 shares five-year-old Ivy and seven-year-old twins Brian and John - who were part of Meghan's bridal party in May - with husband Ben, and has spoken at length about getting back into shape after her pregnancies.

In April 2010, the fashion doyenne - around five months pregnant with her twins - dazzled in a strapless blue gown streaked with gold accents, subtly accentuating her bump, as she joined her husband at a swanky gala evening in Toronto.

Commenting on the look, Lucas Armitage, stylist and creative director of poisedlondon.com, told MailOnline: 'The blue strapless gown with its Grecian pleat detail perfectly floats over the five month bump and shows of her glowing décolletage to perfection.'

Fast forward to March 2013 and Jess - who was three months away from welcoming daughter Ivy - opted for an ultra-flattering, figure-hugging black bodycon dress teamed with stilettos.

'A classic LBD is a go to in any woman’s wardrobe and that doesn’t change whilst pregnant,' notes Lucas. 'Here, the Bardot style neckline keeps things fun and the body fitting black stretch shows of the bump to perfection.'

The following month, Jess attended a fashion launch, once again wearing black but teamed with a jaunty cropped jacket and bright red scarf.

'The use of a bold scarf for a more casual event draws the eye up and the attention to her face, using black as a base and a statement blazer is also a clever styling trick I’m sure we will see her use on Meghan,' notes Lucas.
