Youth objects to harassment, gang of three slit his throat

BENGALURU: A 21-year-old youth was murdered in Bengaluru on Thursday by three youths for objecting to them harassing two girls. The trio has been arrested.

The victim, identified as Jagadeep Singh from Uttarakhand, his friend Suhas (22), who hails from Udupi, and two other female friends were on their way to a restaurant for dinner when they were intercepted by the three youths. The trio accosted them under the pretext of asking for cigarettes and began rummaging through Singh’s person for the same.

When Singh and his friends objected to the trio’s behaviour, they began passing lewd comments at the two women.


An argument soon broke out between the two sides following which one of the miscreants pulled out a knife and slit Singh’s throat. He died later in hospital.


Accused smashed a beer bottle on victim’s head before leaving


The trio also smashed a beer bottle on Suhas’s head before escaping. Singh and Suhas were rushed to a hospital, where Singh succumbed to his injuries. Following the murder, a police team arrested the three — Chittibabu alias Dorai (20) and Praveen G (19) of LCR Road in Be--ngaluru’s Gokula area and Kishore M (20) of K N Layout.


The three were lathe workers at Shanmukha Industries in Mathikere, police said. Singh and Suhas worked as waiters at a restaurant and were staying in Mathikere.
