GURUGRAM: An elderly couple, who were living in DLF Phase 2, allegedly committed suicide on Saturday morning. Gulmehar Kaur (72) died while Harnek Singh Dhillon (79) is admitted in a private hospital, said police.

According to police, they received information at around 9.30 am that an elderly couple has been attacked. When police team reached second floor in DLF Phase 2, Kaur was found dead while Harnek was conscious with the veins of his hand cut. He was rushed to a private hospital.

Police has found a suicide note and a kitchen knife from the house. They have not revealed the content of the note.

“Couple was lying on the floor in a pool of blood,” said a police officer adding that Gulmehar’s throat was slit, probably with kitchen knife, while Harnek had cut the veins of his hand.

Couple, originally from Ludhiana, has two children. The son is settled in Australia while the daughter lives in Canada. “Family members have been informed about the incident,” said police spokesperson Subhash Bokan, adding that the family members are coming from Ludhiana. Police is waiting for family members to know more about the couple.
