BJP not averse to replacing Parrikar

New Delhi: In a new twist to the Goa politics, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday endorse Goa Front Party leader and minister Vijay Sardesai indicating after meeting BJP President Amit Shah that the party is contemplating to replace Manohar Parrikar with a new chief minister in view of no improvement in his health. In a brief press statement, the party headquarters here said the BJP is open to the idea of ‘coalition dharma’ in the background of ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

It also dismissed Goa Power Minister Nilesh Cabral’s statement that “GFP leader Vijay Sardesai’s views on new CM is out of personal interest.” The statement said: “Bharatiya Janata Party has dismissed as misleading news item attributed to Power Minister Nilesh Cabral in a section of media stating GFP leader Vijay Sardesai views on new CM is out of personal interests.” It came soon after Sardesai said in Panjim that illness of Parrikar suffering from a pancreatic ailment was affecting his working and that of the state administration. The BJP sources said the party does not want the allies to shift to the Congress because of pinpricks by the state party leaders.
