AGRA: Administration of the Dayalbagh Educational Institute, a deemed university, in Agra has moved to Delhi high court against the central council for homeopathy (CCH) and union ministry of Ayush for not providing accreditation to the varsity's homeopathy institute.
According to university administration, teams of the Ayush ministry and CCH conducted inspections at the institute five times. No inefficiency was pointed out during inspections.
DEI spokesperson SK Nayyar said that the application for accreditation to the homeopathy medical college was sent to the ministry of Ayush and CCH in April 2017. The university had planned to run Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) course. He claimed that university administration had all the requirements required for the accreditation.
“Before sending out the application, a no objection certificate (NOC) was taken from the principal secretary of the state medical education department on July 14, 2016. Besides a 20 bed homeopathy treatment facility was also started, fulfilling all the standard norms and getting it registered by the office of district homeopathy officer”, he said.
In October 2017, CCH team did inspection of the faculty of integrated medicine (Ayush) at the university and awarded letter of intent accepting the establishment of the homeopathy college and the 20 bed hospital.
In May 2018, CCH’s research wing Central Council for Research in Homeopathy had constituted a special team to look for research prospects with the DEI in field of homeopath and sign an MOU.
CCH was supposed to provide accreditation by October 15, 2018 which was not done, as per DEI spokesperson.
Nayyar said, “DEI has been labeled with ‘A’ category institute by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Since last hundred years, DEI is providing high standard education at minimum amount of fees. University administration has been working to get accreditation for the homeopathy college since last three years. Without any valid reason, some officials are posing hurdle in the initiative to promote homeopathy healthcare for public benefit. University administration is determined to get justice in the matter. As of now, we haven't received any court notice regarding the matter."
