Fire breaks out during Ramlila celebrations in Kanpur

KANPUR: A fire broke out on the stage of a Ramlila ground in Parade area of the city during fireworks of Dussehra celebrations on late Friday night.
The fire was brought under control by fire brigade. No casualties have been reported in the incident. Additional district magistrate Vivek Srivastava said, "There was a sudden fire in the pandal on the Ramlila stage after effigy of Ravana, besides other demon kings, were burnt. Firemen, who were stationed at the venue along with two fire tenders, immediately brought the fire under control.
SP West, Sanjiv Suman, said, "Fireworks caused the fire. No one was hurt as the people were safely evacuated from the venue with the help of police and Ramlila volunteers."
