He may have spent 20 years on television but Grant Denyer has kicked goals during his short time on the 2Day FM airways.

The Game Of Games host won Best Newcomer at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards on Saturday.

Afterwards, the 41-year-old revealed to Daily Mail Australia that working with former co-host Em Rusciano was 'loose'.

'It was great to see her make the decision that ultimately makes her happier and it is great to see her happy,' Grant said.

'I miss it because it was good, it was fun, it was wild, it was loose. Now it will be something different.'

Em left the breakfast radio show, which she hosted alongside Grant and Ed Kavalee, in September.

Em said on air at the time: 'The truth is when I found out I was pregnant, I made my mind up on the spot that this year would be my last year of breakfast radio.'

The 39-year-old faced rumours that there was tension between her and other staff members but Grant said that was untrue on Saturday.

However, despite their short stint together, Grant said he wouldn't have received the award if it wasn't for Rusciano, as she taught him so much.

'I owe a lot of this award to her if I am honest': Grant said he wouldn't have won the award if it wasn't for Em's guidance

'She's an incredible professional, she's wildly talented and I owe a lot of this award to her if I am honest,' Grant told Daily Mail Australia.

'I was as green as anything and knew nothing about radio and she gave me a "university degree" [in radio presenting] in a matter of months just watching her work.'

He said she was incredible at what she did and he does miss working with her.

'But we will create something big and special and grow this little baby,' Grant said in reference to the future of the beleaguered breakfast radio program.
