Joe Turenne's shot was deflected off a Diman player and went into the goal for the game's lone score as Westport defeated the Bengals 1-0 in boys' soccer action Saturday.

The victory qualified the Wildcats for the postseason and improved their record to 8-4-3.

"This is a big win for the program," said Westport coach Chris Parker. "It's the first time Westport has beaten Diman in boys soccer in five years."

Tyler Holden posted the shutout in net.

GIRLS' SOCCER

Westport 3, Diman 2: Seventh-grader Leah Butter scored a Westport goal as did Marianela Dutra Africano and Acadia Cass as the Wildcats improved to 10-4.

Samantha Gehan and Mya Parker each scored for the Bengals.

FOOTBALL

Tri-County 31, Diman 6: The Bengals fell to 2-4 as Tri-County's Tyler Saunders and Jordan Pina each scored a pair of touchdowns.

Diman, which trailed 7-0 at the half, got its touchdown late on a 4-yard run by Oshaun Brooks.

Tri-County improved to 6-1.
