Mauvin Godinho: Not all can be told of smart, fast action

PANAJI:Justifying the party’s move to take two Congress MLAs into its fold without consulting senior functionaries, panchayats minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho said, “When smart and fast moves are made one cannot always take everybody into confidence.”
Even I wasn’t consulted before Subhash Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte were inducted, Godinho told reporters on Friday, adding, “It’s not possible to keep everybody in a political party happy.”
“Any decision taken is bound to impact some people hard and others not at all. Those impacted will naturally react. For every action there is a reaction,” he said, adding that one should not read much into the resentment voiced by senior functionaries.
Those affected would eventually calm down, he said. “Just like dust never continues to be in the atmosphere, everything will settle down. Ultimately, we all have to fall in line and follow party discipline and come within the ambit of what the high command and higher-ups decide,” he said, adding that he too has come to accept that.
There is “no vacancy for the post of chief ministership” as chief minister Manohar Parrikar continues to be CM, Godinho said.
“You think a party like BJP is not prepared? We are prepared for any eventuality to have a good, performing government that works for the people,” he said. “There is no cause for alarm.”
Hitting out at the Congress, he said nobody prevented them from staking claim to form the government when they had the majority in the 2017 elections. “They’re crying over spilt milk. Was it not their job when they were the single largest party to stake their claim? This scenario is going to continue for some time,” he said.
