New Santro is available in eight variants; petrol MT variant delivers 20.3kpl
Hyundai India has begun dispatches of its upcoming Santro hatchback which is slated to launch on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Online bookings of the are currently ongoing. While there have been multiple instances of the vehicle being spotted in various forms of disguise earlier. We bring to you today new images that show the car in its Asta trim in totally undisguised form.
The Santro Asta gets full wheel covers as standard, there are no alloy wheels on offer on any variant of the car. It gets chrome surround for the grille, wing mirrors are body coloured with integrated turn indicators, body coloured door handles and other trim bits on the exterior. It also gets rear wash wipe as standard on this variant. The model also gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Andriod Auto and mirror link function. The screen also doubles up as a display for the reverse camera.
The new Santro is available in as many as eight trim levels. There will be two gearbox options on offer along with a petrol or a CNG option as well. Power comes from a 69hp, four-cylinder 1.1-litre engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as reported earlier. This engine-gearbox option will get six variants starting from the base DLite (likely to start around Rs 3.7 lakh), Era, Magna, Sportz and the top-spec Asta trim.
The CNG-powered Santro that comes with a lower powered 58hp, 1.1-litre engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Santro with the factory-fitted CNG kit will be available in Magna and Sportz trims only.
Additionally, for the first time, a new AMT gearbox from Hyundai is making its debut in the Santro. The Hyundai Santro Smart Auto AMT will also be available on the Magna and Sportz trims which means the top-spec Santro Asta won't come with an AMT gearbox. Hyundai will also not offer the Santro AMT with a CNG option.
The Santro petrol MT is likely to deliver a claimed 20.3kpl while the CNG variant will do 30.5km/kg. Speaking of warranty, the company offers a 3 year/1,00,000km warranty on the Santro along with a three-year roadside assistance package.
As far as safety goes, the model gets a single driver airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, EBD and speed alert system.
