Tata Steel strikes Netherlands tie-up for carbon neutrality

Tata Steel's European business on Friday announced a partnership with the Netherlands' company and the to develop the largest green cluster in Europe, which it says is one of a number of initiatives to help the Indian giant achieve its ambition of becoming neutral from 2050.

Using renewable electricity, the plant would save up to 350,000 tonnes of dioxide (CO2) per year, equivalent to the emissions of more than 40,000 homes.

"We are already one of the world's most CO2-efficient companies, but our ambition is to become a carbon-neutral steelmaker," said Hans Fischer, of Tata Steel's European business.
