The State’s ice skating team made its mark at the 15th Ice Skating Nationals Championship held in Gurugram from October 10 to 13. This year, their laurels include seven gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals.
Coached by P Satyanarayana and managed by T Neeta, this is the third time the team has won the National Ice Figure Skating Championship in a row.
In the solo competition, Pratham Tated (above 19 years), Priyam Tated (13-15 years) and Suresh Sai Sri Swetha (15-19 years) secured the first spot. Shaik Arshiya Sana (13-15 years) and Dontara Gareeshma (under 10 years) secured the second spot. While Elisetty Pallavi (15-19 years) and Mellela Ram Sai Teja (10-13 years) secured the third spot.
In pair skating, Pratham and Swetha (15-19 years), and Priyam and Sana (13-15 years) finished on top in their respective age groups. Dodda Nidhish and Gareeshma (10-13 years) bagged a silver medal, while Kopparapu Kyvalaya and Chundi Saharsha Chowdhary (under 10) brought home the bronze.
Pratham and Swetha also the won gold in the ice dancing category, as did Marisetti Snehal Bhaskar Roy (10-13 years) and Marisetti Sirini Ani Sree (under 10) in their respective groups. Vishal Anand Mutyala (13-15 years) and Lochan H Jhurani (10-13 years) bagged the third spot.
In the synchronised dancing competition, both the senior and junior teams bagged a silver medal.
