Is Chevrolet Planning Another FNR Concept?

Chevrolet may be working on a futuristic new concept vehicle if new trademark filings are anything to go by.

GM Authority has uncovered that on October 8th this year, General Motors filed an application to register ‘Chevrolet FNR’ and ‘FNR’ as trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The filings list the names for use on motor vehicles, particularly automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks, vans, engines, and structural parts.

Many of you may know that FNR is an acronym for GM’s ‘Find New Roads’ slogan. It was also the name attached to a pair of Chevrolet concept cars developed by the automaker’s Chinese joint venture development center, the Pan Asian Technical Automotive Center.

The first of these concepts was the Chevrolet FNR from the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. A new concept, dubbed the FNR-X, was then unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2017 and took the shape of an SUV. It offered a glimpse of the design of the 2019 Blazer and the 2019 Orlando.

As GM Authority notes, it is impossible to say with certainty just what General Motors has up its sleeve with these latest FNR trademarks. However, the fact that they have been made in the United States could indicate that any future FNR concept or production vehicle will be unveiled somewhere in the U.S.
