FALL RIVER — On Oct. 21, The 22nd Sunday after Pentecost, the Rev. Peter Parent will give the sermon “The Order of Melchizedek” and will be based on Hebrews 5:1-10 and the lineage of Jesus at United Methodist Church, 600 Highland Ave. The Liturgist, Michael Foy, lay minister, will be reading these selected passages from the Holy Bible: Job 38:1-7, 34-41, Psalms 104:1-9, 24, 35c and Mark 10:35-45.  Worship service is followed by light refreshments, free to all in the social hall.

Sunday School is now in session each Sunday during the service and all children are welcome

Youth Group has begun under the leadership of Justin and Amanda Sousa for grades 5, 6 and 7.

The choir practice is held each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and at 9 a.m. Sunday before service. Music director is Deb Carvalho.

The nursery is open for parents who need to use it during the service. It is not supervised by the church. Any questions or concerns, call the church at 508-676-3091, before 1 p.m. or leave a message.

On Monday evenings at 6:30 the prayer group “Sweet Hour of Prayer” meets and all are welcome.

The church continues its support of the Fall River Food Pantry and local veterans.

The following donations are needed: gloves, socks and all other form of clothing would be greatly appreciated by all. Food donation items for this month will be peanut butter and jelly.
