AHMEDABAD: A Pune-bound SpiceJet flight, SG-0523 from Ahmedabad, was delayed for take-off by nearly two hours, leaving passengers stuck in festive season. Officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed that the delay was caused due to delay in the arrival of the incoming flight, which was supposed to ferry passengers from Ahmedabad to Pune.
Kamlesh Soni, a businessman from Pune, said, "The flight was scheduled to take off at 7.10pm. However, a delay of 30 minutes was initially announced which was later pushed to 8.30pm and then to 8.55pm. I along with my family were supposed to attend a social gathering for Dussehra which we will be missing out on, due to the delay of the flight."
Confirming the incident, a SpiceJet spokesperson said, "Owing to the congestion at Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Mumbai, the incoming flight from Mumbai to Ahmedabad got delayed. As the same flight was supposed to connect passengers to Pune, the subsequent flight, SG0523 also got delayed."
AAI officials confirmed that the schedule of no other flight arriving at or departing from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad, was impacted.
