Sydneysiders have be warned to keep their umbrellas handy as the welcome return of sunny and bright blue skies won't hang around for long.
After a wet and miserable two days, Sydney woke to overcast skies on Friday which eventually cleared and warmed up to 26 degrees.
The city is set to be drenched again with more severe thunderstorms this weekend with a 80 per cent chance of rain forecast for Saturday and 95 per cent on Sunday.

Temperatures are predicted to plummet from 27C on Saturday to 21C on Sunday.
'There's a high chance of showers for Saturday and Sunday as a result of a tough moving across the state,' Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Elli Blandford told Daily Mail Australia.
'It will generate storm activity along the coast with the potential of severe thunderstorms developing on Saturday afternoon.'
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Neale Fraser told Fairfax Media he would be 'extremely surprised' if there aren't warnings of severe weather issued for parts of New South Wales again on Saturday and predicted 'nasty' weather for Sydney.
Saturday afternoon's forecast is bad news for last minute Wentworth by-election voters in the eastern suburbs and those planning to attend the Invictus Games opening ceremony in the Sydney Opera House forecourt that night.
It comes after a severe thunderstorm and 6,000 lightning strikes within a 50 kilometre radius on Thursday caused widespread chaos and flashing flooding across the city.

Penrith, in Sydney's west, was hit with one month's rain in half an hour on Wednesday night.
The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 61.4 millimetres in half an hour, much higher than the October average of 51mm.
After the driest September on record, Sydney's Observatory Hill is forecast to collect 2-8 millimetres of rain on Saturday and another 10-20ml drop on Sunday.

In good news for drought-stricken farmers, most of NSW will receive rain this weekend.
Parts of Australia have already doubled their average October rainfall, despite only being two thirds of the way through the month, according to Weatherzone.
'Some pockets of southern WA, eastern NSW and northern Queensland have even picked up 3-4 times their average October rainfall,' it stated.
The rain is here to stay in Sydney for another few days.

'The showers will continue into Monday,' Ms Blandford told Daily Mail Australia.
'Looking into the second half of the next week, we could see the skies clear up on Tuesday but the rain is forecast to return later in the week.
Across Australia, Canberra and Perth are also in for wet weekend while Melburnians are in for a rainy Saturday before the skies clear up on Sunday.
It will be sunny in Adelaide, Hobart and Brisbane while possible storms are forecast for Darwin in the Top End.
