Take A 360 Degree Look At The 2020 Corvette C8 Design

The upcoming C8-generation 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has been spied testing on so many occasions with so little camouflage that the automaker may as well just reveal the supercar already. Sadly, this won’t happen until next year.

In the meantime, a fan of the Corvette has taken the time to mock-up a 3-dimensional rendering of the car to give us a look at the exterior shape of the finished product.

YouTuber kalderleifar used various videos of camouflaged prototypes as the basis for his creation. He opted against including parts like the headlights, taillights, and wheels as the small details of these features are hard to accurately predict.

However, in terms of the C8 Corvette’s body panels, this clip should provide us with our best look yet at the car.

The design will probably divide opinions.

As prototypes have shown, the front will be characterized by angular headlights, an aggressive grille, and large air intakes. The sides of the new Corvette will also be a dramatic departure from all other Corvettes as they will incorporate large air intakes that help feed the mid-mounted powertrain with cool air. For the most part, we think the front and sides of the car look quite nice.

As for the rear, it’s not as appealing. For starters, the decklid appears a little too large and we think the car would look nicer if the rear window was extended further towards the car’s tail. As for the shape of the headlights, they appear to be a bit of a mish-mash between sharp angles and curved lines. Large air vents are then featured directly below the taillights while openings on either side signify the locations of the tailpipes.

As per the most recent rumors, the entry-level C8 Corvette will allegedly use an LT1 6.2-liter V8 with roughly 500 hp. A 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 will then be introduced in naturally-aspirated and twin-turbo forms. We believe the all-motor variant will have 600 hp while the twin-turbo V8 may deliver 800 hp. A range-topping variant pairing this twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor may have 1000 hp on tap.

The new Corvette could debut as soon as January’s 2019 Detroit Motor Show.
