Ujjain : The city will celebrate Dussehra and Durga Navami together on Thursday. As many as three effigy of Ravana will be burnt on this occasion across the city. 101-feet tall effigy at Dussehra Maidan A 101 feet tall effigy of Ravana will be burnt at Dussehra Maidan along with alluring display of fireworks. The programme will be held around 7 pm by Lala Amarnath Smruti Dussehra Mahotsava Samiti.
The organising committee president Om Khatri and mentor Dr Shiv Sharma told that the Dussehra mahotsava is being held since last 55 years. They told that according to convention the mahotsava will start after the collector worships the sawari of Mahakal. Ravan dahan on Friday On the next day of Dussehra an effigy of Ravan will be burnt by Ankapat Ravan Dahan Samiti on Friday.
Secretary Vijay Patel said on this Dussehra attractive crackers will also be demonstrated to entertain the gathering. Another 101 feet tall effigy of Ravan will also be burnt in Bhairavgardh area. Siddhanath Yuva Manch head Pt Raghvendra Chaturvedi told that the effigy will be burnt on Friday on 8 pm
Mahanavami on same day
According to almanac Mahanavami will also be celebrated on Thursday and devotees will perform worship of goddess Durga on the same day of the Dussehra.

An effigy of Ravan will be burnt at Kartik Mela ground on Thursday at 6.30 pm. Vijayadashami Mahotsava Samiti head Kailash Vijayvergiya said spiritual preachers will be feted at the same venue. Similarly Shriram Navyuvak Mandal Bhairavgarh will celebrate Dussehra at Unhel road square at 8pm on the same day. Organising committee member Sanjay Korat said saint Balyogi Umeshnathji will be present on this ocassion.
Chhappan bhog for lord mahaKal
Sindh Youth Federation will offer chhappan bhog to lord Mahakal on the occasion of Dussehra. The head of the federation Mahesh Paryani said that 100 family members of the community will take part in the event, and the federation will pray for communal harmony and progress for the society.
