FALL RIVER — The bikes are lined up in neat rows. The treadmills await pounding feet. Instructors are ready to guide and train.
It all starts at the new Crunch Fitness on Saturday, Oct. 20, when the newest workout facility in the city will host a soft opening at SouthCoast Marketplace, 450 Canning Blvd.
“I think it’s going to explode,” said Mark Federico, regional president of Crunch Fitness in Massachusetts. “It’s bright and shiny and new.”
The 25,000-square-foot space offers multiple areas for different workout styles and classes, including a spinning area, studio, high-intensity interval training, Nautilus equipment, plus 75 to 100 pieces of cardio equipment and free weights.
The gym also offers two tanning beds, a Hydromassage bed, restrooms, lockers, showers and dressing rooms.
The high-intensity interval training (HIIT) area is “one of the biggest differences” exercisers will find at Crunch, as opposed to other local gyms, Federico explained.
He said there will be 40 to 50 workout classes scheduled each week, including Zumba, yoga, HIIT, muscle conditioning, spinning and more, plus personal and small group training — another big plus for consumers who want to have more fitness options under one roof.
“We offer classes and personal training, all included in the membership,” Federico said. “That’s one of the things Crunch is known for.”
Members and those who join between Oct. 20 and 27 can participate in special events and classes at Crunch before the grand opening on Oct. 27. Federico said membership prices will also be at their lowest.
There are three tiers of membership, priced at $9.95, $19.95 and $29.95, each offering workout essentials and half-hour circuit training, with more expensive memberships including group fitness, video workouts, ride classes, tanning, and more.
Federico said SouthCoast Marketplace is a great spot for the new Crunch Fitness.
“We’re excited about this whole plaza,” Federico said.
Federico said Crunch has hired about 30 employees for full- and part-time work. “We’re making sure we’re fully staffed and ready to roll,” he said.
Pre-memberships have been mounting up to more than 500 already, putting the new Crunch over its goal.
“It’s a beautiful clean club with new equipment and classes,” Federico said.
