A private company’s staff bus, which lost control after a suspected break failure and hit an autorickshaw, led to a major traffic snarl on the Kathipara flyover in Guindy during the peak hours on Wednesday evening. There were no fatalities, the police said.

The staff bus belonging to a tyre manufacturing factory in Anna Nagar was heading towards Tambaram with 12 people on board. When the bus reached Kathipara flyover, the driver Selvam (32) lost control over the vehicle because of suspected brake failure.
It went to the opposite side of the road, tilted and brushed against an autorickshaw. The driver of the auto, who suffered minor injuries in the accident, was taken to hospital.
Even though the traffic police rushed to the spot, the accident threw traffic out of gear from 4.30 to 5.30 pm.
