Tyson: No time for excuses for Bafana Bafana

2018-10-18 13:41

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana captain Thulani Hlatshwayo says the team won't look for excuses after drawing 0-0 with Seychelles on Tuesday and will try to improve against Nigeria.

Stuart Baxter's side failed to beat the minnows in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group E qualifier which took place on the island of Mahe.

The result means the Super Eagles moved to the top of the group after beating Libya home and away. Bafana take on the Nigerians on November 16 in what could be the clash that decides who wins the group.

Nonetheless, Hlatshwayo takes the view that forgetting about the result against the Pirates and focusing on their next encounter is key.

"There's no time for excuses right now. We just need to focus on the next game," the Wits defender told the SowetanLIVE website.

"We are on social media and a lot is being said about the team that we drew against, [with some calling them] fishermen, because they play football part-time and we play it for a living.

"You know, we all come from different teams and we are doing it for our nation. It's an honour to represent the country and we must make sure it does well."
