A woman from Garla mandal in neighbouring Mahabubabad district was reportedly diagnosed with swine flu at a hospital here on Tuesday night prompting the authorities to initiate prevention measures.
Sources said that a 38-year-old woman from Garla mandal was admitted to a private hospital in the town with high fever and symptoms of swine flu on Monday. A day later, the diagnosis was confirmed and she was referred to the State-run Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for specialised treatment on Tuesday night.
When contacted, DMHO Kalavathi Bai told The Hindu that no case of swine flu has been reported in the district so far. A woman patient from the neighbouring district was referred to Gandhi Hospital from a local hospital here on Tuesday after she exhibited symptoms of swine flu.
As a precautionary measure, a special ward is being set up in the District Headquarters Hospital to treat swine flu patients, she said.
