Robbers strike at realtor's house, flee with 20 lakh

LUcKNOW: A group of unidentified miscreants robbed a real estate dealer's house and decamped with Rs 20 lakh cash and jewellery worth several lakhs early Wednesday morning under the jurisdiction of PGI police station. The robbed house is just a few kilometre away from the Telibagh police station, across the busy Rae Bareli road near Telibagh crossing.
As per police reports, the house belonged to Naubat Singh, who lived in the house with his wife Meenu and nephews Ankur and Raman.
On Tuesday, Naubat had gone to his brother's house and his wife and nephews were at home. Police said that Ankur and Raman were sleeping in their rooms on the house's ground floor when the miscreants barged into the house between 2am and 4am.
The family had rented a portion of the first floor to tenants and also occupied a few rooms on that floor. On Tuesday, Meenu was resting in one of the rooms on the first floor. Police said that the robbers bolted the doors of the rooms located on first floor from outside and sneaked into the room where Meenu was sleeping.
They took away the cash and jewellery from the room .Around 5am, one of the tenants Rajeev Kumar woke up and found that the doors were bolted from outside when he tried to open them. He shouted for help, following which local residents rushed and informed the police. Circle officer (Cantonment) Tanu Upadhaya, said, "They bolted the rooms from outside so quietly that none of the residents of the house came to know about their entry. It has also surfaced that the miscreants reached the house in a car and fled in the same." Irked over the incident, a huge number of residents gheraoed the Telibagh police outpost in protest and later blocked the Lucknow-Rae Bareli road. Taking cognisance of the incident, SSP (Lucknow) Kalanidhi Naithani has sent the sub-inspector of Telibagh outpost Santosh Gaur to the lines.
