Harry and Meghan visit Melbourne on day three of Australian tour

How to get there

If you're planning to head down to the meet-and-greet at Government Drive this morning, we have a few handy transport and parking tips for you compiled by reporter Chloe Booker.

Royal watchers are advised to take public transport or walk to Government Drive.

There will be no parking available in the immediate precinct. The nearest car park is at the Arts Centre and charges may apply.

As for public transport:

Train: Flinders Street Station is a 15 to 20-minute walk to Government House

Tram: Take the St Kilda Rd/Coventry St tram - routes 3/3a, 5, 6,16, 64, 67 and 72 - and get off at the Grant Street - Police Memorial stop.

Little Princess ready to meet royals

Six-year-old London Peterson is on her way to Melbourne with mum Jane to try their best to meet the Duke and Duchess this morning.

You might have read about the royal-loving mother and daughter in this lovely piece by reporter Robyn Grace.

Today will be the second time the lucky youngster will have seen the royal couple, after she travelled to England to witness Prince Harry marry Meghan earlier this year.

London has chosen a bunch of deep pink roses to give to the couple, and has matched her outfit to the bouquet perfectly I might add.

Meghan's Melbourne wardrobe

Our fashion editor Melissa Singer has high hopes for Meghan's outfit choices today. There are definitely whispers that someone local is set for a boost. Let's hope Meghan showcases some of Melbourne's many amazing designers. Meanwhile, Harry has been looking very dapper in variations on his traditional blue.

Things are happening...

OK we have some movement at Admiralty House in Sydney and a motorcade has arrived outside so it looks like Harry and Meghan will soon be on their way to us. W

Keen queues forming already

Melburnians and royal-watchers are made of tough stuff. Many people are braving the rain already to stake their claim on the best spots on Government Drive where Harry and Meghan will be shaking hands and (fingers crossed) holding babies from about 10.30am. Our photographer Joe Armao is there getting rained on too, thanks Joe!

Tour highlights

The pair really have managed to cram an enormous amount into their brief trip so far, including some extremely moving moments.

I posted earlier about the big hugs and beard pats they got from a schoolboy in Dubbo but let's take another look at Harry's third meeting with 98-year-old war widow Daphne Dunne. Monarchist or Republican, surely everyone can enjoy feelgood stories like this. We've gotta take nice news where we can get it these days, no?

Baby gifts

The big reveal just as the couple arrived that Meghan was indeed pregnant sent excitement about this visit into overdrive. They've already been given a toy kangaroo and some very cute, weeny Uggs so it will be interesting to see what Melbourne offers up. Some baby skinny, black jeans perhaps? A fixie with training wheels? Let us know if you're taking something to give to the royal babe.

Where else are they going?

Everywhere, man.  When their full itinerary was released it caused a bit of a stir for being super-touristy. And people were outraged that you can't technically "cuddle a koala" anymore. After their Melbourne jaunt, they'll be back up to Sydney for Harry to climb the Harbour Bridge with PM Scott Morrisson to raise an Invictus flag (the games are the main reason they're here after all, more on them soon).

What will Meghan wear?

In just two days, Meghan has managed to change the lives of two Australian designers. When she stepped out in Sydney in a white shift (accessorised with baby bump), the website of designer Karen Gee crashed and yesterday her relaxed Dubbo ensemble highlighted the work of Outland Denim,  a brand that directly helps survivors of sex and human trafficking in Cambodia. Fashion folk are highly anticipating that first outfit sighting today.

Our fashion editor Melissa Singer put together a rundown of how the duchess might embrace Aussie farshun before they arrived

They'll see very Melbourne weather

That's right, the weather today is going to be classically inconsistent so that's another feature of Melbourne Harry and Meghan can say they've witnessed. If you are planning to head out to see them, pack a brolly as there'll be showers throughout the day. They've already started over Media House.

The couple should be OK with it as they weren't phased when it bucketed down in Dubbo yesterday.
