The Chinese herbalist who helped Malcolm Turnbull and Eddie McGuire lose large amounts of weight in short periods of time has been suspended.
Dr Shuquan Liu encouraged clients to go without food while sipping on herbal tea and eating small amounts of cucumber.
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) website revealed his registration was suspended despite clients at clinics in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane being told he 'suddenly retired'.
Dr Liu would not give details on the suspension but said it followed a decision by the Chinese Medicine Council of New South Wales, News Corp reported.

'It is not appropriate to discuss the details while the matter is being investigated,' he said.
Dr Liu had been treating patients with his controversial 101 Wellbeing weight loss program up until last week.
Media personality and president of Collingwood Mr McGuire dropped 15 kilograms in a short three-weeks with the medical practitioner's radical diet.
The diet consisted of sipping on three cups of 'herb tonic' a day in place of meals, for 14 days.
For two weeks he consumed absolutely no food, before being 'allowed' half a cucumber and 50 grams of chicken in the program's third week.
The restrictive dieting regime was also used years earlier by former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in a health overhaul.

Clients who called the practice in Prahran, Melbourne, on Wednesday were told the program was no longer available and Dr Liu had retired.
The 101 Wellbeing website was also taken down.
A young Melbourne man who was due to start the third week of his diet where he could begin to eat small amounts of food was notified the program had been stopped.
Despite being booked in for an appointment with Dr Liu, the young man was told he would need to see a different doctor at the practice for alternative dieting treatments or be given a refund.
Dr Liu is the founder and director of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Australia which offers Chinese massage, acupuncture, herbal medicines, reflexology, cupping and moxibustion, which involves the burning of a herb to then apply to the body.
