It's mid-October but the broadcast networks are still debuting new programming. On Tuesday, ABC launched three new programs: the Roseanne Barr-less The Conners, the new Nathan Fillion drama The Rookie, and the '70s-set comedy The Kids Are Alright.

If you've been living under a rock, The Conners is the much talked about spin-off of Roseanne that stars everyone from the cast not named Roseanne. In the wake of the comedienne's firing and the cancellation of the revival series, this new series was a big risk for everyone involved, but it affords the cast and ABC to continue telling the story they first began telling (for the second time) last season.

Following the latest chapter of the Conner family comes the adventures of the Clearys in The Kids Are Alright. Set in the 1970s, the comedy series was inspired by creator and executive producer Tim Doyle's life growing up in a traditional Irish-Catholic family. Starring Michael Cudlitz and Mary McCormack as the parents to eight rambunctious boys, the series kicks off when the eldest son quits the seminary to go off and save the world.

Meanwhile, The Rookie is former Castle star Nathan Fillion's new series in which his character decides to pursue his dream of being a police officer following a life-changing incident. Of course, he's the oldest rookie on the force, which leads to exactly what you think it leads to.
