Woman dies after loudspeaker falls on her in Delhi's Daryaganj

NEW DELHI: A 37-year-old woman died after a loudspeaker atop a Tata 407 truck fell on her head in central Delhi's Daryaganj on Wednesday morning. According to the police, the victim, identified as Babita, was a resident of Secunderabad and had come to Delhi with her family to visit the Jhandewalan temple.
Babita was holding her daughter's hand and walking on one side of the road when she noticed the loudspeaker falling off the truck. She immediately pushed her daughter away in an attempt to save her. Babita, however, could not move aside and the speaker fell on her head.
Passersby said the woman was crushed under the loudspeaker. Cops rushed to the spot and took the woman to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
