LUCKNOW: A 17-year-old youth spent his father's money on pampering his girlfriend and later concocted a fake loot story. Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) police cracked the case while investigating the loot which 'allegedly' took place on August 15.
Police said that a complaint of Rs 3 lakh loot was lodged by one Ravi (name changed) of Madiaon. He claimed being waylaid and robbed by a woman on Sitapur road while returning home on August 15.
Ravi told police that he had stopped to attend nature's call when a woman came on a scooty and first asked for keys of his bike, punched him in the face and snatched the cash bag after pointing a knife at him and fled.
Later, he gave number of the scooty which was traced to one Ankit Mishra of Itaunja who stated that his scooty was at the workshop on August 15. SP (rural) Gaurav Grover said, "Then we started tracking movement of Ravi on that day and found that he had visited his girlfriend in Jankipuram. When Ravi was quizzed about his visit to Jankipuram, he broke down." "He told us that he had taken a loan of Rs 5 lakh from his father but could not repay. When his father scolded him, he decided to concoct a loot story," said Grover.
He had purchased iPhones for his girlfriend and himself, jewellery and booked holiday packages and was planning a court marriage, the SSP said.
"Ravi used to live at his girlfriend's house and had claimed that his father was a big businessman. He also got a room constructed at her house to stay with her," said police officials.
His father told police that Ravi had first taken Rs 2 lakh for a job in an MNC in May and then Rs 3 lakh for a job in Dubai. "I thought he is serious and gave him the money. When I enquired, he said that he had given the money to a broker," his father said.
