Bhopal: Even as the Congress is trying to paint a rosy picture and is firing on all cylinders to take on the BJP in the Assembly elections, infighting keeps raising its ugly head. And the impression of a faction ridden party gets reinforced every time the discordant note goes viral.
Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, too, has struck a discordant note. In a video, Singh is seen talking to his confidant Govind Goyal, who is the state Congress treasurer. Singh is seen saying that coming to power in the state would not be that easy and it would merely remain a dream.
Further, he (Singh) is heard saying that he would not do campaign this time and skip party rallies as every time he gives a speech, the Congress loses votes. Singh said this in response when Goyal asked him about his wish to become the chief minister, if the Congress wins the polls. Singh then went on to say that even if your enemy gets a ticket, you should work hard for his victory! Singh, commenting on his video, has admitted that his work was to unite all Congressmen in the state.
On the other hand, Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, commenting on the video, said Singh had been hurt by his own people. One could not imagine a day would come when Diggy would not feature on any poster and banner of the Congress. Singh’s agony began after his Narmada Parikrama. He had announced that he would take out a political yatra across the state and would visit all constituencies. However, Scindia and Kamal Nath had put a brake on his plans saying that if Singh takes out the Yatra, it would damage the party’s prospects.
