DMK high level committee discusses alliance for Lok Sabha polls

CHENNAI: A high level committee of the DMK that met here on Tuesday discussed the party’s alliance with other parties for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the number of seats to be allotted to them.
The meeting discussed the names of party leaders who will be appointed as in-charge of 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and one constituency in Puducherry.

“The committee also discussed how to strengthen booth-level committees and election funding,” said a senior leader who participated in the meeting.

The meeting discussed the party’s plan to unveil a bronze statue of former DMK president M Karunanidhi at the party headquarters and the leaders to be invited for the unveiling function.


It was committee’s first meeting after the demise former Karunanidhi.


Committee members Kanimozhi and party general secretary K Anbazhagan didn’t attend the meeting.


The meeting which began at 10am went on for more than three hours.
