Bhopal: Meeting at Samidha over candidate selection on basis of RSS survey

RSS seeks feedback from key leaders on sitting MLAs and defeated candidates

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has begun its exercise of selection of candidates for assembly polls. RSS’s all India sah-pracharak Arun Jain, area pracharak Deepak Visputey, BJP state president Rakesh Singh and organizational general secretary Suhas Bhagat deliberated upon selection of candidates at a meeting held at RSS office ‘Samidha’ on Tuesday. The leaders also discussed the crucial role of the Sangh in the upcoming assembly polls. A brainstorming session on the survey report of BJP and that of RSS also took place during the meeting.

Singh and Bhagat, had taken with them the report of the survey conducted by BJP. RSS leaders, on the other hand, had their survey report on the status of the sitting MLAs.  Jain sought opinion of the state key leaders including Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar, national vice president Prabhat Jha, Union minister Uma Bharati and national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on the candidates.

They have been asked to give their opinion on whether to give tickets to the sitting MLAs this time and also to the candidates who had lost elections last time, or not. These leaders have been asked to submit their reply in writing so that it could be kept in RSS records.
BJP national president Amit Shah had visited RSS office and met Jain and Visputey. They held discussion on ticket distribution in the state and it was decided that RSS and BJP leaders would together discuss on the matter and thereafter the names of candidates will be shortlisted in a meeting between Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and leaders of RSS and BJP.

The names finalized by state BJP would be finally decided by Shah. BJP may announce names of candidates either by the end of this month or the beginning of November. There are speculations over several sitting MLAs being denied tickets this time. RSS has been brought in picture this time so do the damage control after ticket distribution.
