Man pleads guilty to animal cruelty for beating kangaroos with knuckle dusters before torturing them to death

A thug who was filmed torturing and killing two kangaroos with his mates has pleaded guilty over his role in the shocking crime. 

Ricky Ian Swan, 28, is one of four men from Perth to be charged over the sickening attacks in Western Australia, which were filmed on a mobile phone.

The disturbing footage showed a pair of kangaroos being bashed on May 19 and June 16 with knuckle dusters and stabbed in the head and neck.

The men can be heard laughing in the video.

One kangaroo was burnt, shot with a firearm, spat on, kicked and punched several times by one of the men, who wore knuckledusters. 

Another kangaroo was stabbed more than 20 times then kicked in the head. 

Swan pleaded guilty in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday to two animal cruelty charges.

He will reappear in court on November 28.

The other men, Dylan Griffin, 22, Ben Halpuss, 26, and Luke Dempster, 26 are yet to enter pleas.

Dempster has additional charges relating to the alleged torture of a chicken that was lit of fire on March 31.

He will next face court on October 26 while Malpuss is due to appear on November 5.

Griffin is scheduled to front court on November 12.
