IT course revamp at Delhi government schools

NEW DELHI: Delhi government has announced it will upgrade the Information and Communication Technology subject (ICT) in government schools. The government also delegated powers to the head of schools to make necessary arrangements for strengthening the computer labs.
Education minister Manish Sisodia announced this following an interaction with the newly-recruited computer science teachers. The teachers told the deputy CM that the ICT period per week needs to be increased. They also suggested that it should be one of the core subjects with regular assessments.
With teachers also demanding a lab assistant to facilitate better learning opportunity for students and ICT books, Sisodia directed the Department of Education officials to make necessary arrangements. He also suggested on refining the ICT curriculum and revising the course books.
Further, Sisodia asked teachers to volunteer and initiate innovative learning projects, like virtual classrooms, by recording the best available teachers of all subjects and making their lectures available to students, via You-Tube and other social media platforms. The education minister also asked for volunteers to work on refining ICT curriculum.
