Corvette ZR1’s 755 HP LT5 V8 Now Available as a Crate Engine
Chevrolet Performance is bringing a trio of hot new crate motors to SEMA, and they’re putting them into some pretty cool cars to show them off.
The first is the new LT5. It’s a 6.2L supercharged V8 that’s basically a ZR1 engine. It puts out a staggering 766 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque. It comes dual-fuel ready with direct injection and a larger supercharger. They put it in a 1973 Laguna and gave it a ZR1-inspired carbon fibre hood. Plus NASCAR-style front and rear spoilers.
Next is a ZZ6 EFI. It’s a 5.7L small-block V8 that offers electronic fuel injection and easy installation that offers up to 420 hp. It’s in a ’67 C/10 that’s been lowered and stuffed with 20-inch wheels. It also has smoothed bumpers and tailgate.
Then it’s another pickup. A 1978 K10 Silverado with the L96. This one is an HD truck-based V8. It’s a 6.0L fuel injected V8, with 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. It’s designed to fit where a 454 used to go but offers more power, more torque, and probably better fuel economy. It’s backed by a four-speed auto in a black and red truck that’s been restored to showroom-new.
Chevrolet Performance is also releasing a wider range of gearboxes. Including a six-speed auto designed for LS/LT engine swaps.
They’ve released photos of the Laguna, but it looks like you’ll have to wait for SEMA to see the other two.
